We always look forward to the Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens weekend every year. Sure, we have a competitive streak in us, but ultimately, it was an opportunity for us to don on our WBC shirts with pride. We put together a new squad of; something new, something old, something borrowed and something family. We were lucky to have two ex-HKFC junior players, including Tony Sealy's son, some players from our 2019 squad as well as three new players from the UK to make up the team. The squad worked incredibly well together, comfortably winning the group but unfortunately, a few of our players picked up injuries that restricted our tactics in the semi-finals, eventually losing 1-0 in extra time sudden death. It was disappointing as we had a missed opportunity and the other team, PFA, scored a 'wonder' goal with 20s to go. Yes, we set out for a 3-peat win but we played our hearts out and that was what we hoped for at the end of the day.

Our biggest highlight was to have the Crusaders team during our first game, cheering us on. It meant the world to us to see the children and their parents wearing our green/yellow training tops, promoting Wallsend Boys Club HK to the community.

Special thanks to our sponsors, LGA, Peter Olsen and Newcastle Flooring, for their continuous support. We also like to all our local supporters/long term benefactors like Bill Palmer, who came to watch us during the weekend. And lastly, we wouldn't be able to run the weekend so smoothly without our support team - Neil Jensen, Karin Chapman, and our kit man, Mike Freedman who flew in from the UK again for us.
